My Goals For August

Another month has flown by and it’s time to post my goals for August. July was more productive than June, so that’s a good thing, right? I feel like things are going in the right direction this year. It took a while to start my year off but I’m finally here in the moment and making things happen. Still got a long way to go but I’m feeling confident and happy about how this year is turning out. So yeah, let’s get on with it.

Goal #1 – Complete at least 2 class units!

Silly story; I had put off sending an assignment for my class. I just kept finding excuses to why I couldn’t do it, which put a short hold on me studying more and getting onto other units. Then, when I finally put in the effort and actually sent it in, I got an A- for the whole thing. So that’s proof there that I need to get out of my own head and just do what I do. Anyway, 2 units this month. If I can do more then, fabulous!

Goal #2 – Lose 10lbs

I’m going to be realistic and say 10lbs. I lost 5lbs in 2 weeks, so I’m sure in 4 weeks I could lose 10lbs. That would make a total of 15lbs lost which is pretty good. I wouldn’t be disappointed with that at all.

Goal #3 – Improve my cardio

Smoking for all those years was stupid. Really stupid. I’m lucky that I’m not left with a lingering smoker’s cough but what I am left with is the inability to run long distances. I do HIIT on my runs and the most I ever run is 4 miles. I remember when I was running double that and not stopping. I was in shape and not addicted to disgusting tobacco. I will never touch the stuff again. I will only get fitter. I want to be able to run 5 miles without getting tired by the end of August. Do it, Laura.

Goal #4 – Have money saved for England

By the end of August, I need to have saved up enough money to take the kids to England. I know that I’ve posted this before, but I need to make this one of my top priorities. It’s kinda stressing me out, to be honest, and I’ve almost canceled a few times but I promised them that I’d take them and I’m not going to let them down so I’m going to have to perform a miracle. I can do it.

Goal #5 – Learn how to rehab turtles

I see turtles trying to cross the road quite often. I ALWAYS stop to help them cross safely but when faced with a situation where one has been injured, I’d like to know what to do so I can help them. I was in this situation a few days ago where some asshole hit one and left her to die. Luckily I had the help of a friend and contact with a couple of ladies who do turtle rehabilitation (They are really amazing). Unfortunately, the turtle passed away while I was driving her over to them but if I knew how to rehab turtles, that might not have happened. They offered to help train me so I can help out and I’m excited because that’s something I really care about.

Goal #6 – Help someone

Being a single mum, I’m usually the one being helped when I need it. Sometimes I feel like all I do is take take take. My time is consumed by kids, driving everywhere, doctors appointments and of course, my horse. I’m a busy lady, but I’d like to start reaching out and being of help to others instead of only focusing on what’s going on in my life. Whether it’s a friend or a stranger, I want to make a conscious effort to be a little less wrapped up in myself and do something for someone else. I want people to be able to rely on me. I want to be a helping hand?

  1. Happy August! We have similar goals for this month – I’d like to get more fit and lose 5lb (btw, big props to you for losing 5lbs in just two weeks!), and of course, save my money too for travel. It’s surreal to know that summer is coming to an end so soon and it’d be fall!

    I’m curious how long you were a smoker & how long has it been since you quit? How lucky to not have the smoker’s cough.
